46. We are on the brink

Five years ago, we hadn’t made or sold a single bottle of wine. We had no winery, and we were still living in Houston, dreaming of what could be. Fast forward to today, and we’ve built something incredible: a thriving winery, planted vineyards, a restaurant, and a presence that spans the U.S. and Canada.

We started Alta with no prior experience in the wine industry, yet we continue to succeed. At every fork in the road, we’ve adapted, refined our operations, and turned challenges into opportunities for growth.

In keeping with this tradition, we have listed our original vineyard property for sale. Not only have we found a better site—where we began planting in 2021—but selling this property will allow us to lighten our financial burden, reduce debt, and reinvest in the future of Alta Marfa.

The property is listed, and once it sells, we’ll be in an even stronger position to grow. However, the timing is uncertain, and to bridge this short gap, we’re looking for a short-term (three-year) loan at a competitive rate.
